C opy over the “contacts”, “synclog”, Uploads”, & “cache” folders that we saved from the PC.
While on your Mac, navigate to YOUR_USER/library/Application Support/Google/Picasa3 I found the easiest thing to do is to move everything that is already is this folder to the trash (especially if you didn’t listen to me above and already ran Picasa on your Mac).
Now that you’ve copied the above folders, you will now bring them over to your Mac. pal files that reference that folder name. Make sure you get the whole folder and don’t change its name. One will be titled “backup” (we don’t need this one) and the other one will be some long alphanumeric string. Now go back up to the main Google folder (C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Google) and go into the Picasa#Albums folder (again the # may vary). You want to save the “cache”, “contacts”, “synclog”, & “Uploads” folders. Inside the Picasa folder there are a few folders you want to grab. First open up the Picasa folder (which will likely have a 2 or 3 after it, depending on what version Picasa was on the first time you installed it). You will need to copy a few folders from this area. In Vista or 7, you need to go to C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Google #Flv crunch mac update windows#
I was using Windows Vista on my PC, so that is what the paths are from.

Don’t turn off the PC yet, now you need to navigate into a hidden folder on your PC (if you don’t know how to show hidden folders in Windows visit this website).I simply copied everything from “My Pictures” (XP & earlier) or “Pictures” (Vista & 7) and placed them all into the “Pictures” folder on the Mac. If you can keep the same folder structure (except photos being in “Pictures” on the Mac instead of in “My Pictures” on the PC) it will be much easier and quicker. Copy all your photos from you PC to your Mac.

Install Picasa 3 for Mac on your Mac, however DO NOT RUN PICASA YET. Yay! Hopefully this post will save you some time.įirst off, I did this using Picasa 3.8 on both computers. Finally, at the end of the day (or beginning of a new? Does it count if I hadn’t gone to bed yet?) I’ve figured it out. I spent all day trying to figure out how to port over my images along with the album, contacts, and sync data. Christmas preparations both at work and home took up all my time so I was unable to spend time on my Mac until yesterday. Well, it has been quite a while since my last post.
